Barefootin' Texas has it's roots in as simple of a story as anyone has. Three 30-something family men converged in their Arlington, Texas neighborhood to find that their love for music was something that gave them a bond that few are fortunate enough to ever find. Ben, Mark and Steve had an outlet from the challenges of "the real world" through songwriting that began taking shape in living rooms, on porches, and in "The Garage".
At first, finding time to get together between jobs, kids, wives etc... was a bit of a challenge, but as the new band's songs and sound developed, everyone could see there would be no denying this band needed to be heard. So the boys struck out; at first to the open mic circuit and a few local parties, always thrilling the audience. Eventually they came to realize that "garage-ing it" just wouldn't be enough. In the spring of 2005 they decided to take the plunge, add a drummer and start playing around the DFW area "for real".
Suddenly they were released!
The band and it's members have taken a couple of detours along the way, but it has always comes back to the original idea...
Make music that makes you happy, and you will find that others just seem to enjoy it right along with you.
So with much anticipation and generous help from others, the barefootin' boys finally took some of their songs to the studio. They quickly found themselves "over their head". But a fantastic engineer/producer team of Bradley Prokope and Josh Goode employed all of their wonderful power to show them how a professional album was made. What an incredible experience.
So after being baptised by the talent that surrounded them in the making of "What Makes Sense, the boys felt they MUST find a drummer who would "get" the whole idea of "Barefootin' Good Music - Texas style". Matthew Williams has been a fixture in the Texas and Massachusetts music scene, touring the country and dedicating his life to music. Through a series of introductions and recommendations he ended up getting together with the band in the winter of '09 and immediately felt right at home.
If you have not yet seen the boys in action, you are missing out. At their shows they always invite the audience to "Come in This House" and join in on the love the guys have for each other, the music, and those participating in the experience. So come on out, kick off your shoes, and enjoy the party... you'll be glad you did.
